Tottenham want to re-sign goalkeeper Pau Lopez from Roma, according to Estadio Deportivo.

Lopez spent the 2016-2017 campaign on loan at White Hart Lane, but ended up being third-choice goalkeeper behind both Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm.

And with Mauricio Pochettino’s side achieving their best ever Premier League finish of second-place, the Spanish shotstopper failed to make a single appearance, although he was named on the bench on 10 occasions.

Despite not appearing for the first-team, Tottenham had the option to sign the Spanish international, but couldn’t agree a fee with Espanyol and he returned to the La Liga side.

Since then, the 25-year-old has furthered his career by joining Real Betis in 2018 before an impressive campaign in 2018-2019 saw Lopez earn a big money move to Italian giants Roma, where he has played 34 times.

And with Vorm expected to leave at the end of the season, and Paulo Gazzaniga having not convinced in his 25 starts this term, Spurs are interested in bringing Lopez back to north London to be their second-choice goalkeeper before eventually replacing Lloris, who has been far from his best since returning from a dislocated elbow he suffered back in October.
