Tottenham have made an encouraging start to the transfer window – but reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano believes that Jose Mourinho is still looking to add to his squad in the coming weeks.

The Portuguese has already secured the services of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Southampton, goalkeeper Joe Hart on a free transfer and right-back Matt Doherty from Wolves earlier this month.

Spurs are looking to sell Serge Aurier, whose recently held talks with AC Milan, although the fee for the Ivory Coast international has proved to be a stumbling block, whilst Danny Rose and Juan Foyth look to be surplus to requirements in N17 and could also be sold.

If those three depart, it would leave Mourinho with just six defenders – and Romano said that the Spurs boss is looking to sign another centre-back this summer.

Romano also stated that Mourinho is in the market for some more attacking options ahead of what is expected to be a hectic season for the north Londoners.

He told the Last Word on Spurs podcast: “I expect Tottenham to go for a centre-back, they are also considering the opportunity about a new winger in my opinion, and a new striker because they need a back-up option for Harry Kane.”

  1. Why should an Italian journalist get involved in predicting an English club’s transfer plans?
The English journalists don’t have a clue do how can an Italian know?
Not one English journalist linked us to Doherty; it was all Aarons,Castagne,Atal,Meunier,Maitland-Niles.No one got it right.
All a bunch of clowns stealing a living if you ask me.

    • Because even DarrenBent, has an opinion that is forcefully, somehow attributed to relevant news.. Which now includes anyone or anything that mentions the word, Spurs. Good news, the race to the bottom, which is now football journalism, will implode from the hollow inside and eventually fade out. Much The same way it came in, come to think of it..

  2. To be honest Spurs did not do well with transfer as Spurs got 2 new players thet are fair ok
Spurs really need to buy new striker and central defender also left back in place of worst player Ben Davies why spurs not get Gareth Bales back

    • Why would you want Bale. He is a plain sentimental value. Getting a striker is hard because the club has told Harry Kane , 90 plus minutes every game until you are broken down. We broke Christian Erikssen and ship him out. How can a club of this stature have one creative midfielder for 6 yrs. He was dressed every game in case he was needed when he is not starting. If you know about the Joe Torres and baseball. After he won so many championshipz with the Yankees all his relief pitchers career was over. The only one survived was Mariano Rivera and that was because he pitched less as the closer.
