Tottenham will play Leyton Orient in the third round of the Carbabao Cup.

Jose Mourinho’s side were drawn against the League Two outfit or Plymouth Argyle in their opening round of the competition.

And it looked like Spurs were facing the prospect of a long trip to Devon next week after the visitors led 2-0 in east London, but Orient struck three times in the final 35 minutes to complete an injury-time comeback and set up a glamour tie with Tottenham.

The two sides haven’t met since a last-gasp Gary Doherty header earned George Graham’s Spurs side a 1-0 victory at Brisbane Road in the FA Cup third round back in the 2000-2001 campaign.

The tie will be played next Tuesday, which is just two days after Tottenham travel to Southampton in the Premier League and less than 48 hours after Mourinho’s side could be in Europa League third qualifying round action in either Macedonia or Romania, if they beat Plovdiv in their second round qualifier on Thursday.
