Erik Lamela scored a late equaliser to force Tottenham’s fourth-round Carabao Cup tie with Chelsea into a penalty shoot-out.
Timo Werner’s first Blues goal put Frank Lampard’s men on course for a place in the quarter-finals, but the Argentine found himself in the right place to send the game to spot-kicks.
Spurs were much improved after the break and got their reward in the final 10 minutes when debutant Sergio Regulion picked out Lamela, who controlled before sweeping home from close-range.
