Hugo Lloris is a major doubt for Tottenham’s Premier League meeting with Arsenal on Sunday, according to the Guardian.

Lloris was ill in the days leading up to last weekend’s trip to Chelsea but pulled through and ended up keeping a clean sheet at Stamford Bridge.

But the Frenchman did not travel with the rest of the squad to Austria for Thursday night’s 3-3 draw with LASK in the Europa League group stage.

This, according to the Guardian, makes Lloris a ‘major selection doubt’ for the north London derby – though it’s worth noting they say the reason for his absence in midweek remains a mystery.

The report suggests Jose Mourinho will not comment on the situation until Sunday, with Joe Hart set to make his Premier League debut for Spurs.

It should be said that all of this seems a little premature for now. Lloris may have simply still been feeling the effects of his illness, meaning Tottenham might have felt he would be better off staying at home instead of travelling to Austria.

That said, there is obviously a chance he has picked up an injury. The report notes that Lloris has been involved in other Europa League away games this term, starting in two.

Tottenham fans now face an anxious wait to see if the skipper will be available.
