It’s been a difficult start to life at Tottenham for on-loan Benfica striker Carlos Vinicius.

The Brazilian is currently on a season-long loan deal from the Portuguese outfit, and whilst he’s enjoyed a productive Europa League group stage campaign, scoring three times and adding three assists in just four starts, he’s featured only once in the Premier League.

And Vinicius wasn’t even included in the squad for Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

Having missed the north London derby due to a minor injury, before not been picked at Crystal Palace, the striker wasn’t injured for the game on Merseyside – with Football.London revealing that Vinicius simply wasn’t selected in the 18-man squad once again.

As a result, Jose Mourinho opted for Harry Winks, Dele Alli and Lucas Moura on the bench ahead of Vinicius an Anfield – leaving the 25-year-old still in search of his first league start for Spurs.

However, with Premier League games coming thick and fast, you’d imagine that he’ll have every chance of starting Wednesday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final with Stoke City.

  1. Should have started him instead of Bergwijn conering their make shift centre backs and more crosses into their box may produce a result. And perhaps he won’t be so wasteful but that’s hindsight.
