Jose Mourinho has revealed that Harry Kane is in contention to return for Tottenham’s FA Cup fifth-round clash at Everton next Wednesday.

Kane sustained a double ankle problem during Spurs’ Premier League defeat to Liverpool last Thursday and looked set for a spell on the sidelines.

However, despite Kane being ruled out of the games against Brighton, West Brom and Chelsea, the Spurs boss remained optimistic that he’ll will return sooner than first thought.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Chelsea match, Mourinho said: “Good progress, he’s happy with the progress and of course we are happy too.

“So we are happy. We were scared when it happened but next week we play Everton and City at the weekend, I believe for one of these matches he should be back.”

Following recent results, the last thing Mourinho or Tottenham needed was to be without Kane for a number of weeks, so hopefully this news will give the squad a major boost as they look to get back to winning ways against their London rivals on Thursday evening.

However, Mourinho confirmed that Dele Alli remains out and didn’t sound too confident about the 24-year-old returning before the Everton game.
