Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Erik Lamela is closing in on a move to Sevilla.

The Argentine has been with Tottenham for eight seasons, but has recently entered the 12 months of his contract in north London, leaving a summer exit on the cards.

Lamela had been linked with a return to Italy, but Romano believes that the 29-year-old will sign for the Spanish giants in a sensational swap deal that will see winger Bryan Gil move in the opposite direction and link up with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

Romano has revealed that both deals will be permanent transfers, although Sevilla will get  €25m + add ons included as part of the deal.

Gil, who’s currently preparing for the Olympics with Spain, spent last season on loan with Eibar, scoring four times and adding three assists in 29 appearances.

He’s a product of Sevilla’s academy, but played just 21 times in three years since breaking into the senior team back in 2018 and would miss the start of the Premier League season depending on how Spain fare at the Olympics.
