Tottenham are on the verge of signing goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini from Atalanta, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

We relayed a story from Italian outlet Calcio Mercato on Saturday that Spurs were keen on the 26-year-old, and Romano has confirmed that the deal is now close to being completed.

Gollini has been with the Serie A outfit for the previous four-and-a-half seasons having initially joined from Aston Villa on an 18-month loan deal in 2016 before making his deal permanent three years ago.

Romano believes that Gollini will spend the 2021-2022 campaign at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, although Nuno Espirito Santo’s team have an option to extend the loan by a further 12 months and also an option to buy for €15m.

It’s unclear whether the Italian will instantly become number one or provide competition for Hugo Lloris next season before replacing the 34-year-old once his contract expires next summer.

Golloni’s imminent arrival could spell the end for Joe Hart’s stay in north London, though, with the former England goalkeeper possibly slipping even further down the pecking order.

  1. It’s the same thing every season, Levy going for all the top players knowing full well he won’t get them, then we sign someone who’s nowhere near as good for a lot less. The quality of the Spurs squad is so far from the others in the top 6 we have no chance in finishing any higher than that. We need to out at least 6 players and buy an upgrade on each one, buying a cheap like for like doesn’t cut it for anyone but Levy. They have to go, Lewis, Levy and ENIC OUT !!!

    • It’s the same thing every season, morons believing every clickbait story that is printed and when the fake transfer doesn’t materialise, then blame the board.

  2. That is what the Rooster needs to consider carefully when public capital has great financial potential, and is still facing many difficulties affected by the bubble shooter COVID-19 epidemic.
