Dele Alli will be allowed to leave Tottenham in January but it will most likely be a loan move, according to The Athletic.
The midfielder has struggled for form since the latter days of Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure, falling out of favour under Jose Mourinho and Nuno Espirito Santo, while Antonio Conte has not made proper use of him yet.
Despite inked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain last January (via The Guardian), Alli stayed put – but it seems Spurs are more willing to let him go this time around.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who is always reliable when it comes to transfers, claims Alli has been made available for an exit in the winter transfer.
However, the report suggests Alli’s suitors probably won’t meet Tottenham’s asking price for the 25-year-old, and so a loan exit is more likely than a sale.
That opens up the possibility of Alli rediscovering his best form elsewhere and potentially reviving his Spurs career in the future.
But there is also a chance that he will find a new home away from Spurs, bringing a permanent end to his stint with the north Londoners.
It will be a shame to see Alli leave, but the fact is he isn’t being used and has been out of form for far too long – hopefully he can get back on track at another club.
