Tottenham have once again been credited as the club leading the race to sign AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie this summer.

Kessie is out of contract at the end of the season and so will be able to join another club on a free transfer when his deal is up.

And according to Spanish outlet Sport, Spurs are currently best placed to secure his signature.

The report says Tottenham have already made a ‘very powerful offer’ to Kessie, who is also said to be attracting interest from Barcelona.

The La Liga giants are apparently more concerned with strengthening their defence and attack, which could give Spurs a free run at Kessie.

It is believed Tottenham’s director of football, Fabio Paratici, wanted to sign the 25-year-old Ivory Coast international for Juventus and retains that interest to this day.

Sport say the Londoners have offered Kessie a high salary and ‘transfer bonus’ – perhaps this means a signing-on fee – and have thus entered pole position in the race to sign him.

There are obviously many months until Kessie has to make a decision, so plenty could change, but things are looking good for Spurs at present.

  1. This guy Kessie gives me the impression of being a smart cookie so NO CHANCE he will join us.
    Just forget about it.
    Bollocks and stupid paper talk.

  2. When have these rumors ever come true, especially for us? If this year doesn’t bring top 4, I’m prepared to watch a rebuild. We don’t buy well and we don’t develop like the top clubs — I’m hoping the last generation wasn’t a fluke.
