It’s been a while since Romelu Lukaku was linked with a move to White Hart Lane but as the season draws to a close, the Chelsea striker’s future is no more certain than it was when he joined the club in 2011. Two loan spells to West Brom and Everton respectively have been fruitful but it seems likely that the 20 year old will seek a permanent solution to his playing situation in the summer.

He could, of course, stay with Chelsea – a club whose manager claims they are a team with no striker. Lukaku has 11 goals in 22 league games at Goodison and although his form has dipped since a recent injury, Jose Mourinho may decide to finally give the centre forward a chance at Stamford Bridge.

There are plenty of other options but Spurs are widely linked with an £18m bid today. The story seems to have originated in the Telegraph and claims that Daniel Levy has made Lukaku his number one priority with a view to improving on his £40,000 a week wage deal.

Overall, the Belgian has scored 27 goals in 35 league matches for West Brom and Everton and while this could be a good deal for Tottenham, we suspect that Romelu Lukaku is to be given a chance to prove himself at Chelsea in 2014-15.

  1. Hasn’t lukaku publicaly stated his hatred for spurs though. Or was that to do with how he was treated by AVB at Chelsea? Doubt this will happen.

  2. We’re not good enough! If he was to leave Chelsea he will go back to Everton especially with them chasing champions league and have got an advantage on us in the league.
