Stefan Savic’s agent is ‘already talking’ to Tottenham ahead of a possible transfer from Atletico Madrid, according to reports in Spain.

Last week we relayed a story from Spanish outlet Todofichajes that claimed Spurs have identified Savic as a possible replacement for Jan Vertonghen, who looks increasingly likely to leave north London when his contract ends this summer. Today the Daily Express suggested Jose Mourinho has called off talks with Vertonghen over a new deal.

With that in mind, it makes sense that Tottenham are apparently looking for a new centre-back. And Todofichajes are now reporting that the Londoners are already in talks with Savic’s agent over a potential move.

However, it is believed Monaco are also in discussions with Savic’s entourage with the French club said to be keen to take the former Manchester City defender to France. The report says Atletico will not stand in Savic’s way if he wants to leave – the 29-year-old has two years left on his current contract.

Whether Spurs should be targeting a younger centre-back with more potential is up for debate. What do you think? Let us know in the comments section below.

  1. dont know much about him.. so why not give him a try and hope jose has seen something good he likes .. alan…. ps younger would probaly be better though….

  2. Know nothing about Savic. At 29 it seems a little too old for long term. Much rather bring on the academy players. We have Sangez and Aldrverald Tanganga so use them and get the potential from the young players, as they say they play with no Fear

  3. Axel Disasi of Reims is what Spurs need for the position of CB.
He isn’t expensive and he can play also as DM.
    A must buy!
He can make the difference in defence!
    Please Spurs go for him!
He is on the radar of Arsenal.
