Young striker to join Croat contingent at Spurs?

As we saw yesterday, Spurs target Leandro Damiao isn’t likely to be available until January so with that in mind, could Harry Redknapp now be looking towards a young striker in another part of the world?

Ante Vukusic is a 20 year old Croatian centre forward, currently playing for Hajduk Split. While he made his debut for the side as a 17 year old, he really caught the eye of European scouts last season when he contributed 18 goals to Hajduk’s campaign which helped lift the club to 2nd place in the Prva HNL.

The ‘source’ responsible for the rumour suggests that Vukusic wants to play in England and while Arsenal and Chelsea are also thought to be interested, the suggestion is that he would be tempted to join up with Luka Modric at Spurs.

Many of the articles relating to this player refer to him as ‘the new Modric’ even though they play in different positions, but maybe Luka’s slightly reluctant presence at the Lane could persuade Vukusic to join up. The price quoted is only £5m, which seems a little unlikely but this could be a good coup for Spurs.
