Defoe starts as Rose remains sidelined

3

The starting XI is in for this afternoon’s match with West Ham and the big news sees Jermain Defoe replace Roberto Soldado up front with the Spaniard dropping to the bench. Meanwhile, Danny Rose has lost his race for fitness again with Kyle Naughton continuing to deputise.

Here’s the side,

Lloris, Walker, Dawson, Vertonghen, Naughton, Dembele, Paulinho, Townsend, Eriksen, Sigurdsson, Defoe

And our subs today

Friedel, Chiriches, Chadli, Holtby, Lamela, Sandro, Soldado

With less than an hour until kick off what do you think of the team and in particular, the switch up front?

  1. either way, we can’t score. for all of christians technical play ability, he can’t get it to a finisher. maybe thats it. we don’t have a finisher. lamela and soldado look to be high priced flops at the moment. a lot of flash, but no goals. not even close. not happy at all.

  2. Did Spurs have a definable strategy in that game? West Ham did. Clog the middle. Now the whole league has a roadmap for beating Spurs. Outplayed and completely outcoached today.

    • thats the fear. we are too big and fast for other teams to play us one on one, but when they clog the middle, we don’t have the technical ability to steer through and manufacture a win as well. it’s going to be bad if other teams play like this against us going forward. AVB adjustment?
