Adebayor the difference

Adebayor the difference

A section of Spurs fans remain convinced that Emmanuel Adebayor may soon return to the sulking, disinterested figure that we saw for most of last season but for now, you simply can’t ignore his contribution to the team. Away from the Europa League, goals were hard to come by but Ade’s six in eight sees us on the verge of the top four once again.

A number of team mates were quick to talk the player up, even during his days of isolation and now that he is back in the starting line up, Hugo Lloris is clearly a big fan.

“He’s a top player and a decisive player,” Lloris is quoted as saying on the club’s official website.

“Take away the fact that he scored the goals, he worked a lot of the team. He made a lot of runs and created a lot of space around him.”

The French goalkeeper went on to underline the striker’s value when the team are under pressure at the back.

“Sometimes when you are struggling in a game he’s a good target, he can keep the ball and help the team to play higher up the pitch.”

The quest for a top four finish is back on and if Spurs do get there, Emmanuel Adebayor deserves huge credit – even from his permanent doubters.

  3. Hulk for Spurs? Dream on! Spurs couldn’t afford his wages. Only Chelsea, Man City, Man Utd and Arsenal could (if any of them want him). Spurs revenue only £140m per year. Arsenals is £230m. Spurs need a bigger ground. We are punching above our weight.
