Tottenham star Dele Alli has said the club’s players want to repay the faith Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino have shown in them by winning trophies, hinting he will commit his future to the Londoners.
The London Evening Standard claims Alli is “expected” to follow the leads of Pochettino and Harry Kane by signing a new long-term contract with the Londoners.
And the 22-year-old has spoken of the group’s ambition to collect silverware this season, something they have so far failed to do under Pochettino.
“We are playing a sport we love every day and want to try and achieve as much as we can together,” Alli told the Standard.
“We enjoy playing together and if it comes to a point where you aren’t improving then maybe you have to think about think about something else but for now, we are in a great place, with a great manager who doesn’t want to stand still.
“We are all excited about the team we have. You can see the direction the club is heading and we want to be a part of it. The manager and chairman have shown trust in the players by backing us and Harry’s deal shows he wants to repay that.
“As players, it does give you a bit of confidence that we look like we are strong enough to compete again.”
Alli started the season brilliantly, scoring the winning goal in the opening weekend victory at Newcastle United.
He hasn’t scored since then, however, and has received criticism from some supporters for his wastefulness in front of goal and other aspects of his performances.
Others have praised his displays while noting he could be more clinical in front of goal.
Regardless, Alli is clearly a Pochettino favourite and is rarely dropped or rotated, suggesting there is a good chance a new contract will be sorted sooner rather than later.

please dont get me wrong I am fanatical about Spurs at 58 years old have supported them all my life
and I will be totally honest I am still down still gutted about the defeat on Sunday
my opinion we are a good team the no spend in the transfer window showed on Sunday we have no depth no plan B from the bench
but
we need Deli to sign he is the future but as we know money talks and everyone has a price
Liverpool up next I do hope we can put in a performance that will make all spurs supporters stand up and shout

Pretty much the same when it comes to getting over a loss, it bugs me for days.
I also agree that not signing anyone will come to be an issue, as its a long season and a lot of games in all competitions. Also I think teams will work us out as Poch doesn’t adapt his game plan to either counter other teams or come up with something different for those stubborn teams who look to nullify us. The plan A is great and has done us well, but it needs adjustments when needed.
I want to be wrong, but I think top 4 will be even tougher this season and just might come up short.
When has Poch ever had a “hoof it to the big geezer” plan B. Never.
The best managers make plan A much better instead of resorting to ancient tactics.
Desist from over reacting and quit moaning We are where we are and that is a good place compared to past managers.
