Gareth Bale took his tally to the season up to 14 goals with a superb hat-trick for Tottenham against Sheffield United on Sunday.

He has reached that tally in 30 matches, meaning he has averaged a goal almost every other game across all competitions. In the Premier League, he has nine goals 16 appearances, which is better than a goal every other game.

The numbers are made to look even more impressive when you look at his minutes per goal ratio.

As shared on Match of the Day 2, no Premier League player has a better minutes per goal ratio than Bale (81) in the Premier League season. It’s even better than Kane’s (130).

All of which proves that Jose Mourinho got it wrong with Bale. He may been forced to slowly introduce the Welshman, who arrived at the club with a knee injury, but Bale clearly should have played more under the recently sacked manager.

What’s more, all but one of Bale’s league goals this term have come in matches he has started. Late in his tenure, Mourinho would often bring Bale on as a substitute far too late.

Hopefully the 31-year-old is able to start every remaining game as Spurs make a late push for a top four finish.

  3. Mourinho time at spurs could be the blueprint for how NOT to manage a modern football team. Bale and more so Dele are so much better than the chances the portuguese pulis gave them.

  5. Unfortunately that was one of the many things that Mourinho got wrong; will go down as the worse coach in Tottenham history, notwithstanding the board’s overall lack of support.
    A clear warning to any chairman of any club stupid enough to even dream of employing him.
