Today In Spurs History: April 16th

1965 – Whilst Harry searches for the right combination up front, he must wish he had as complimentary partnership as Alan Gilzean and Jimmy Greaves at his disposal. On this day in 1965 Greaves scored twice and Gilzean notched a hat-trick as Spurs beat Blackburn Rovers 5-2 at White Hart Lane.

1987 – Aaron Lennon is 23 years old today. He has already played 177 games for the club, scoring 18 goals. Hopefully he will play many more and establish himself as a Tottenham legend. Get well soon and here’s a video in tribute to your skills Aaron (excuse the accompanying modern ‘beat’ music).

2005 – Spurs earned a 2-2 draw at Anfield thanks to an astonishing strike from Erik Edman and a goal by Robbie Keane. If nothing else the quality of Edman’s goal and his subsequent career trajectory, should act as a reminder to us all that Danny Rose still has a long way to go.
