On This Day In Spurs History: 3rd September

1988 – On this day in 1988, Paul Gascoigne made his debut for Tottenham against his old club Newcastle at St James’ Park. Gazza was showered with Mars Bars whenever he approached the touchline and to make matters worse, Newcastle took a 2-0 lead.

Gazza’s fellow ex-Magpie Chris Waddle, got Spurs back into it with a volleyed goal, before Terry Fenwick made the score 2-2 with a header.
