He’ll have to make it on to the pitch first, but if Jermain Defoe scores on Saturday against his former team, he will join an elite band of Spurs players who have scored 100 goals or more for the club.

Only 15 players have achieved this so far and if Defoe becomes the 16th he will join illustrious names such as Jimmy Greaves, Martin Chivers, Bobby Smith, Glenn Hoddle and many other great servants from the past.

Disregarding the poor season that the player has offered (if that’s possible), this is still a great achievement and one that he can be truly proud of. Although, as the years pass by, it looks less likely that anyone will ever match Jimmy Greaves’ tally of 266, a century of goals is some feat and his ratio is decent too.

It would be unfair to compare JD to some of those names at the top of this list, but what about some of the players that he has surpassed? When we look back in years to come, how will our hearts and minds compare Jermain Defoe with say, Steve Archibald, Clive Allen, Garth Crooks, Gary Lineker or Mark Falco?

  1. The Defoe after the Wolves game would have scored Harry has wrecked his confidants by leaving him on the bench for a man not fully fit. Why did he do this when he asked Jermaine to score the goals to get us into fourth and then he delivered two crackers and Van who has not scored or played at Blackpool or W

Why did he do this when he asked Jermaine to score the goals to get us into fourth and then he delivered two crackers and Van who has not scored or played at Blackpool or Wolves and his reward a game against Milan and Harry hauled him of at half time surely it must be Defoe the answer was no and now Defoe has bean tapped by our rivals City Oilers .. Now we have Modric Bale Van Defoe all tapped and head wrecked.

  3. Totes agree Davspurs ,Defoe is the answer!!He still the best striker we got.He hasnt played that bad this season,Jermain just been unlucky. He was injured for a fair while too!!!I thought he should of atleast played a half against milan.Would hate to see him go to city.Hopefully he scores a treble against west Ham and everyone gets off his back.I suppose everyone will say he only score against bottom side then??VDV hasnt done much at all lately in my book!!!!!!!!
