All of a sudden, Spurs are being linked with a choice of defensive midfielders and after the Jack Rodwell rumours of earlier this week, stories are emerging of the club’s interest in Ajax’s Dutch international Vurnon Anita.
Anita was a product of the famous Ajax academy and made his first full appearance for the club while still only 16. To date, he has 3 caps for his country. Despite having just signed a new two year contract in Amsterdam, his agent Harry Lulofs had this to say,
“The way I understand things, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are the two interested teams. They have not approached me, though, and I have not been in touch with Ajax either, to ask whether there has been contact with other clubs.”
At €15m he may be a cheaper option than Jack Rodwell, but equally as promising. An extra bonus would be the player’s ability to cover at left back, where he has made many appearances for Ajax.
