At this stage of the summer, a lot of Spurs fans are starting to get a little jumpy about the lack of activity in the transfer market. One the one hand, we haven’t seen any sign of the striker that we expected and have been told that we need, while on the other there hasn’t been much evidence of the ‘streamlining’ that Daniel Levy promised.

With the first warm up games approaching, the situation for frustrated fans could be about to get worse with the danger that is the pre-season friendly. As far as we know, the whole squad barring King, Dos Santos, Gallas and Sandro has travelled and that could mean a lot of the deadwood will get their chance to shine in South Africa and beyond.

Some good performances here from the likes of Jenas, Palacios and others could get them back in contention and see Harry arguing that they are good players who deserve a chance.

It’s happened before. Gio had a decent pre-season last year and David Bentley was outstanding when he first arrived at the club. You just know that someone will stand out in these games, the question is, who will force their way back to the front of the manager’s mind?

  1. I dread to think we will start the season with the same toothless striker trio. Pav would be good to keep but Crouch and Defoe………More beautiful midfield build-ups ending in an airball and Crouch clutching his face?
