The media has linked Spurs to a host of midfielders for a number of reasons, whether they are as potential replacements for Luka Modric or just as reinforcements, but it seems that more and more left wingers are being connected to the club.

With Gareth Bale and Steven Pienaar suffering many injuries in recent months and Niko Kranjcar seemingly not fancied by Harry, maybe one of these suggestions will come true and if that is the case, Brazilian Willian could be a good option.

Willian Borges da Silva currently plays at Shakhtar Donetsk where he has been since 2007 after joining from Corinthians. Although he doesn’t score as many goals as some of the names linked with Spurs, he is highly thought of and earlier in the week, he had this to say about a possible move to the Premiership,

“I like Chelsea and Arsenal’s styles a lot. I’d be very happy to play for Tottenham too and help get them back into the Champions League. They’re a very big club.”

“I think my style of play would suit the Premier League,” Willian added. “Having played in Ukraine for four years, I can already deal with the physical side of the game.

“They are very hard over there. In that sense, Ukraine is good preparation for playing over here.”

It seems that after the emergence of another Brazilian in our ranks, everyone is looking for the next Sandro and looking at Willian, he just might have a chance of emulating his compatriot if he were to move to White Hart Lane.

  1. is spelt Willian not willan – and this is getting silly, why just jump on every rumour and offer little opinion or info on the subject. i saw this on newsnow ages ago zzzzzzz

  2. There is only one other Brazilian i would love to see at Spurs and that is Sandro’s team mate Leandro. This guy is young, quick, hard working, most of all unknown to the P.L and would score plenty of goals.I am surprised we are still looking for another striker.
