Up until the very last day of the transfer window it had looked as if much of the deadwood was staying at the Lane. However, deals can happen very quickly and Jermaine Jenas and David Bentley will both be lining up in claret and blue this season, and their lack of first team action at Spurs could see both deals becoming permanent.
Speaking on Villa’s club website JJ said: “It’s been frustrating for me being in and out and it’s almost impossible to generate any form.
“Obviously I’ve still got to get into this team, it’s a very good side with some very good players.”
At West Ham, David Bentley is the latest in a long line of Spurs players to make the short journey to East London and he is certainly eyeing up a long term deal,
“I’m trying to rebuild my career like West Ham are trying to rebuild themselves as a football club, so hopefully we can go hand-in-hand.”
“Of course I would definitely consider staying here,” he added. “If they consider keeping me then I would definitely consider it.”
While we wish both players well, it would seem that permanent deals in both cases could be in everyone’s interest.
