There may be some bad news for Newcastle boss Alan Pardew ahead of Sunday’s clash with Spurs at St James’s Park. Striker Demba Ba has been in blistering form this year and has played a major part in his side’s unbeaten start to the season with a hat-trick against Blackburn followed by a vital goal at Wolves last time out.

However, the Senegalese is struggling with a knee injury that threatens to keep him out of Sunday’s line up,
Ba has been on duty with the Senegal national side, but failed to train because of the issue and the Senegal FA have merely stated that he has a ‘knee problem’.

The scant information has led to a number of conspiracy theories suggesting that this is the same knee that has dogged the centre forward throughout his career.

Long term or short term, Ba’s possible absence for the Newcastle side this weekend will undoubtedly be a blow for Pardew’s plans.
