The ‘will they or won’t they ‘ rumours concerning a permanent Spurs move for Emmanuel Adebayor will rumble on and they will increase significantly every time he turns in a goal scoring performance such as the one the Togolese produced against Villa this week.

One thing in the club’s favour if they do decide to make their move is the fact that Ade seems to be thoroughly enjoying his stint and happy with his game once again and he credits Harry Redknapp for much of this turnaround.

“For me it’s always special to have a manager like him,” Adebayor said. “He has given me confidence, has given me my life back. He tells me before every game: ‘Adebayor – go out there, you know what you can do, just enjoy your football. If you can score goals, score goals, make assists, keep doing your thing,’ and that’s it.”

“I don’t have any pressure on my head telling myself I have to score to keep my place now. I just have to do the job and I think at the moment I am doing it very well,” he concluded.

It’s hard to avoid the stories mentioning his former employers but in addition, the player feels accepted and even loved by the Spurs fans.

“I think they accept me because they have seen that I am working hard for the team,” he said.

“If you are a Tottenham fan you will definitely love me because I am doing the job. It’s not only about scoring goals, it’s about what you put in.”

Whether his new lease of life will extend to negotiating on a wage deal is another matter but as an alternative, is this one player worth breaking the bank for?

  1. As we have seen with Gallas; sometimes you have to forget the past and look to the future. Adebayor up top with Van der Vart is a partnership that can cause problems to any team in the world. I was delighted when we signed him and I still feel the same. Ade is worth paying 100k a week for on this form. The players are responding to well to his style of play and if he continues to play with the determination he has shown so far he will help towards a top 4 place. Parker and Modric will also be crucial to this as will Ledders and Bale
