Amidst all the loan deals away from White Hart Lane yesterday there was one permanent departure and it came in the shape of Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko who has departed for Lokomotiv Moscow for a fee in the region of £7.5m.

It had been an unhappy eighteen months at the Lane for Pav, punctuated by occasional match winning strikes against the likes of Birmingham last season and against Sunderland a few weeks ago, where his solitary goal could yet prove vital in the course of the season.

Pav joined us in 2008 and was a fans favourite for many, despite never really reproducing the prolific form he showed at Spartak Moscow. He will perhaps be best remembered for a purple patch in 2009-10 after returning from injury that spurred on our run into the Champions League.

Roman leaves us after notching 41 goals in 111 games for the club and few Spurs fans wouldn’t join us in wishing him all the best back in Moscow.

  1. I want too wish Pav good luck, he might not have been the best striker, but was there when we needed him most, like sunderland, wigan a few year back, when he had some games in a row with goals. GOOD LUCK pav . SPURS forever, sorry my bad english

  2. Not the greatest, but can’t agree with the dude above saying good riddance. Yes, it’s good to get him off the books, but dont forget the young boys game. We wouldn’t have even made it to the CL if it wasn’t for that.

  3. Agreed 100%. He scored some really important goals for us and was seemingly ignored by Harry at times for his “English Tall and Small Dynamic Duo” the past couple years. Oddly enough, I’m sure if you look at Ade’s numbers right now for the season, Pav’s goals per game average is the same if not better.
It is almost as if we use our strikers as a “decoy” so that our wingers and attacking midfielders can score =D

  5. i dont know why everyone was so negative about pav. 1 in 3 goals/game isnt bad espescially as he was only used rarely off the bench. the guy wasnt given a chance. i bet you he goes on to score bucket loads back in russia. good luck to him!!! super pav
