Spurs have recalled Adam Smith from his loan spell at Leeds, ostensibly to provide cover for Kyle Walker who has withdrawn from Stuart Pearce’s England squad because of an ankle injury.

As I write there is no confirmation on the Spurs website but the official Leeds portal had this to say,

“Tottenham defender Adam Smith has been recalled from his loan spell at Elland Road in order to provide cover at right-back for the Premier League side’s first team.”

No doubt the move will have improved relations with Neil Warnock no end and the Leeds’ boss was already unhappy at losing Andros Townsend last week.

However, while there’s no word as to the extent of Walker’s injury, with Vedran Corluka in Germany, recalling Smith was a logical move and the England under 21 international could find a place on the bench this weekend at the very least.

  1. Neat player and skillful player going forward – he reminded me a bit of Dennis Irwin – but not so impressive in his basic job, defending. Like the other Spurs boy (Townsend), he seemed a bit fragile to me.
