This weekend sees a rather welcome break from league action as Tottenham prepare to face Bolton in the FA Cup 6th round. A trip to Wembley beckons for the winner and a chance of a place in the FA Cup final itself but defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto claims every game is a cup final at this stage of the season.

“When you want to finish third in the Premier League, every game is difficult,” BAE said.

“We have 10 more league games until the end of the season and for us, it will be 10 cup finals.”

Benoit conceded that Spurs only turned up for the second half of the game at Goodison and the defender was behind some of the attacking play that could have secured an equaliser.

“We started the game 45 minutes late,” said Benoit. “We conceded the goal in the first half and couldn’t come back,” he added.

So it’s a brief interlude this weekend as we return to a straight knockout game. It’s us or Bolton in the sixth round and according to BAE, this is how we should be treating every game on our run in.
