Yesterday we looked at the situation that Giovani dos Santos finds himself in and questioned whether it really was an option for the player to stay at White Hart Lane. In the meantime, it looks as if things have started to progress with reports that Swansea are looking at the possibility of a loan deal for the Mexican international.

The Swans already have a relationship in place with Spurs, having taken Steven Caulker on a season long deal last campaign and it looks as if they may come back for our young defender ahead of the new season.

Meanwhile, it seems that the Welsh outfit are also interested in Dos Santos, having watched him appear for Mexico recently but only seem interested in a loan deal at this stage.

Having experienced several loan deals prior to last season, is there any value to this from a Spurs perspective or should we be looking to offload Gio permanently?

  1. Can a team loan 2 players from the same club? If not then where does that leave Caulker? Also, doesn’t Gio only have 1 year left on his contract?

  2. Offload permanently if we can get a good deal. Real shame though, he has such promise but just has never demonstrated it for us

  3. Would be a joke to keep him on our books another season.
If we are going to put effort into securing good loans for our players let it be our young hungry prospects.
Gio has had his loan chances. He has never impressed for Spurs. We made a mistake buying him and should have cut our losses already.
A big mistake. No loan. No more chances. Get rid. Put effort into those who deserve it.

  4. Good at drinking apparently our Gio lad.
Same as the last post, need to clear wages off the books one way or another if they’re not gonna play, whether that’s cos they ain’t good enough or Arry just dont fancy them, doesn’t really matter.
Loaning them out is often the only way cos everyone’s skint

  5. If he has only one year left on his contract, what is the point in loaning him for that final year and leaving for free after…surely this is total gossip that the gossipers haven’t thought through?!!

  6. would be great for him imho as swansea play flowing football IF he starts he will thrive I think alonside allen britton sigurdsson sinclair. offers simillar threat to sinclair.
Would be great for both teams as he has untapped potential. Possibly a 6 month deal which sees us either offload in jan , new deal or give first team football at wHL

    • I agree that he could fit in really well with Swansea; I’d like to see him do well and we’re never going to give him a real chance.

  7. I think a loan to Swansea in the prem would be perfect, they play like barca where he learnt his stuff. Only problem is, I would imagine the relationship between him and redknapp has deteriorated beyond the point of him ever re-signing, so we should sell him now and make a profit before he leaves on a free next summer. Or maybe a 6 month loan like someone suggested

  8. very dangerous situation with gio and swansea.if hes succesful there.what does this say about his time at spurs.rodgers brings a breath of fresh air to the league.if anybody gets the form of gio at international level into his league form.this would mean where arry failed, rodgers succeeded.a bannana skin waiting for arry to step on.
