Moussa Dembele may have impressed in the heart of Tottenham’s midfield but the Belgian international has caused concern at White Hart Lane over the hip injury that kept him out of Saturday’s match with Chelsea.

It seems that the problem in question is one that first developed during his time with Fulham,

“It’s something that comes back to him,” said Andre Villas-Boas. ”He fell awkwardly in the Scotland game against Belgium and felt the pain.”

“Fulham took him off for a period of two weeks . He had a chance to play against Chelsea and had a late fitness test, but the pain didn’t go away.

AVB was hopeful that he wouldn’t be without the player for much longer but a scan will reveal the news, good or bad.

  1. I know this isn’t related but i think Spurs should sign Eriksen. He’s young, dynamic and creative as well as being a good friend with Vertonghen (they played together at Ajax). I’d also like to see us use this partnership with Real Madrid and try to buy Higuain on the cheap. At least if they say no we can tell them to do one when they eventuall come looking for Gareth Bale. Imagine a front 4 of Higuain, Bale, Lennon and Eriksen, it’d be quality and have an average age of 22. COYS!!!

  2. We missed our 2 most important players on sat and nearly got a result. We have no one to replace dembele in the middle who offers anywhere near the shield that he does. Without him we rely even more on individual brilliance and not team cohesion. Sandro was half the player without dembele beside him. We need him back ASAP. We also need Ade to start a few games and get up to match speed. The next period is so important for us. Coys

  3. I see Dembele as a true midfielder, he works forwards and back, Sandro is more of a shield insofar as he breaks up opposition attacks, Moussa defends, recycles the ball and also attacks we missed him last week. If this is going to happen we need cover for him.

  4. While Totties amble thru a Season that should not be emphasized to gain Champions League status, there comes some questions that are begging answers. To that end, the next open window should address the concerns of Attack! Which forward to use ? IN the case of a single front man then Adebayor is the one who can hold the ball better and seemingly creates chances for other players. If you press 2 or 3 others (Dempsey + who?) forward into the box then rebounds or layoffs are possible. That is something that rarely occurs with Defoe who inclines to shoot most of the time.
More attacking options need be obtained . Because big name forwards eschew coming to WHL to star, Spurs ought to seek out unheralded up-and-comers in the same style of Newcastle and Everton. Neither Ade nor Defoe will be enough to satisfy the ambition for the future, regardless of whatever system or formation is used.

  5. “I believe that our team’s level is higher,” said Lucescu.

“This is true of both each player’s individual skill and the game organisation. I think that we surpass Tottenham in terms of those qualities.”
