There has been talk of Spurs making a ‘marquee’ signing this January but could it really come in the shape of Barcelona’s Chilean international Alexis Sanchez? The 23 year old is a versatile player who can perform up front or on the wing and it’s claimed that he is valued highly by the club. However, he’s not a regular starter for Barca in La Liga.
The source of the story seems to be Chilean newspaper Fichajes which suggests that Andre Villas-Boas has urged the Spurs board to do all they can to bring Sanchez to White Hart Lane. Considering that Sanchez cost around 35 million euros last year, AVB has some persuading to do.
Although not a prolific scorer, Sanchez is quality. At 23 he has over 50 caps for Chile and it could be that he provides the same sort of impact as Eden Hazard at Chelsea. At that sort of price however, can we really see this one happening?
