Yesterday’s win at White Hart Lane was something of a relief after a poor run of three straight defeats but the performance was emphatic over the ninety minutes. Yes we conceded our traditionally late goal – it wouldn’t be Spurs without a nervous last few minutes – but the win was comfortable in the end.

After the match, Andre Villas-Boas hailed an outstanding display from the team,

“We only just played against Lazio yet the performance was outstanding, inspiring,” said AVB. “It was just what we needed.

“We been unfortunate with a couple of results recently, we’ve deserved better, and it was important for us to get back to winning ways.”

Andre singled out two-goal Jermain Defoe and the under-fire Clint Dempsey for individual praise.

“Jermain Defoe is a great player in a great moment of form, Dempsey had an extremely good performance,  Dawson came back into the team, there were lots of good individual performances and after playing against Lazio, it was tremendous to see that effort from the players.

“It was an important day for us and good in preparation for the Liverpool game.”

That Liverpool match takes place on Wednesday night prior to our trip to Fulham on Saturday. The win itself took us above West Ham and into seventh, level on points with Arsenal in sixth.
