There’s no official word from Spurs as yet on the reports coming out of Croatia suggesting that deals have already been struck to take the teenage pair of Alen Halilovic and Tin Jedvaj to White Hart Lane. However, it’s believed that one of those players will remain with their current club Dinamo Zagreb on a loan basis for a further 12 months.

“We agreed with their future club, that one of them remains at least another year with us,” said Dinamo’s President Mirko Barisic.

However, Zagreb’s figurehead would not confirm their destination.

“For now we cannot confirm to which club they are going but it is true that they are both leaving,” he added.

“It is just too early to talk about the club which bought them. We will confirm that when everything will be sorted out.”

At just 17 years of age, both players look to be superb prospects but Halilovic is the really exciting part of the deal, having already earned his first full international cap. Naturally there have been comparisons with Luka Modric with suggestions that Halilovic can achieve even greater things than our former Croatian.

“A lot of people have compared him to Luka Modric, but he’s better than Luka was at this age,” Barisic added.

The fee is a tasty one too and it certainly seems to have pleased Zagreb’s President.

“The transfer fee? €20 million (£17.12m) is – let us put it this way – the right number.”

However, it’s all gone a little quiet in the media today so were these claims a little premature?
