With less than a month before the new season gets underway, rumours linking Spurs with a new striker purchase continue to gather momentum but some of us may be getting a little nervous about the prospect of another barren transfer window.

One by one the linked players move elsewhere – David Villa, Alvaro Negredo – while any thoughts of trumping Arsenal in the pursuit of Gonzalo Higuain may be scuppered by reports of an increased price tag of £37m for the Real forward.

In the meantime, there are stories emerging in the Portuguese press about a proposed loan deal for Benfica striker and full international Nélson Oliveira. A loan will satisfy no-one and more concerning are the player’s stats which really don’t impress.

Oliveira is with Benfica in name only and in four years at the club he has played just 12 league matches. There have been three loan spells in that time yet the player has still claimed ten international caps at senior level, but his goals to games ratio is around one in six at best.

Oliveira is just 21 so has time to develop but as far as a spell at Tottenham is concerned, a fourth striker berth looks about right.

  1. I would like to see torres at spurs as he would fit in well with lennon and bale and he would be a good price

  2. Levy may be the Chairman of British Rail, he is not doing a lot for Spur’s other than looking for midfield players. What about strikers and wingers, he is so memorised with Bale he does not think about anything else. He should have been thinking of the positions when he let VDV go.
When Bale or Lennon are injured we have a problem. Adebayor & Defoe last year played like they was 70 year old not 30 year old’s. Levy has no idea, Man City & the Gooners should have told him what Adebayor was about, he came with history.
Levy should make a video of 2012/13 seasons of Adebayor & Defoe’s mistakes in front of the goal and copy it with his expressions. He would make more money at that instead of football.
Levy has got to many “YES” men around him.
We need 2 strikers & 2 wingers before we go down into lower leagues. Try & recruit Dyson, Hammer,White & Bobby Smith.

  3. I’m very surprised to hear people talking wrong about adebayor. They don’t know the problem of this man was AVB last year. I think people here don’t know adebayor more. Having adebayor in spurs squad is a luck. If Ade decide to play football, Benteke and Soldado will be behind him.
