The battle to sign Roberto Soldado goes on but Spurs are heavily linked once again with a move for Lyon’s Argentine striker Lisandro Lopez with some areas of the press suggesting that Andre Villas-Boas is setting out to tie up a deal for both men.

At 30, Lopez is two years older than Soldado but his record in France is easily comparable to the Spaniard’s returns in Spain and the French based striker finished last season with a record of 59 goals in 119 league games for the Ligue 1 side.

Some are even claiming that Lopez was the subject of a failed deadline day bid from Tottenham in January and while that type of scenario sounds familiar, it’s hard to recall having read this story before now.

Lopez is versatile and can also play out on the wing but with the arrival of Nacer Chadli it seems unlikely he would be deployed in this position. However, as a striker, he looks to fit the bill, even if his age is slightly against him but if it is a choice between Soldado and the Argentine, the Spaniard must surely be the priority.

  1. I don’t believe any of this stuff about Soldado or Lopez.

Why would Spurs pay big transfer fees for either of these two players?

Leandro Damiao and Loic Remy are younger and have similar goal scoring records to either Lopez or Soldado.

    More mis-information.

    • Haha! – -You’re back! – You seem to have adjusted your sights from usual transfer requests pal,. You usually want Ronaldo and Messi

  2. Sorry kosher kid, but damaio is out of our reach, and as for Remy, I think we should stay well clear,.

I wouldn’t be unhappy at all if we signed Lopez and Soldado. If just one, I guess I would prefer Soldado, but after 5 years without a proper CF (Ade’s loan season was very nice of him, but he preceded to follow that with a farce of a season last year) I would settle for either one of em about now!

  3. Go get Yilmaz. Equally prolific and could be significantly cheaper. Fred won’t be bad either. Levy should end all diz fantasy striker chases dat lead nowhere.
