Tottenham continue their pre-season preparations and while the media focus on Gareth Bale’s absence from the side, the rest of the squad will be tackling a strong Monaco team later this afternoon.

This will be the toughest of the friendly games so far and it’s a clash that Steffen Freund and the rest of the coaching staff are looking forward to.

“It’s great to play Monaco, it will be a fantastic game to watch,” said Steffen on the club’s official website.

“They won the Ligue 2 championship and I think they will push again to win Ligue 1 in France, challenging Paris St Germain.

“We’re still in pre-season and it’s not only about results, but the last game against South China was really positive and not just the result, but the performance as well. That’s why we’re positive to have a good performance in Monaco.”

The game is live from 5.15pm on ITV4 and will hopefully be a welcome break from all the Bale speculation this week with the addec potential to witness some of our summer signings on the pitch.
