The link with Andrea Pirlo has been around for a few days now but in a slow international week, the media continues to claim a Spurs move for the Juventus man in January. Meanwhile, at the other end of the age scale, it’s claimed that the club could be in for Barcelona’s 21 year old Sergi Roberto when the window re-opens.
Pirlo is 34 but it’s easy to think he’s much older when you read some of the reactions to this story, although the pedestrian nature of his play doesn’t help that view. Clearly he’s a huge talent and a threat from a dead ball but will the pace of the Premier League find him out?
As for Sergi Roberto, the youngster has only made six appearances in the Barca first team and as a central midfielder, his path to a regular first team place is heavily blocked. It’s said that the Spanish side are only looking at a loan deal but the reports claim that this won’t deter Spurs from following up their interest.
These are both interesting links but would either man really make an impact at White Hart Lane in the second half of 2013-14?
