A move for Manchester United’s Mexican striker Javier Hernandez had always seemed like an unlikely one but reports today claim that current Red Devils boss David Moyes will do all he can to block the deal. Whether or not you consider Spurs and United to be genuine rivals these days, deals from Old Trafford to White Hart Lane remain rare and Moyes is suggesting that the forward still has a role to play in United’s current campaign.

“It is not a question for now,” Moyes said when asked about a potential deal. “He will play a lot of games before the end of the season.”

With 33 goals in 79 League games for United – many as a substitute – the appeal of Hernandez is an obvious one but a transfer that always seemed a remote possibility now seems a complete non-starter.
