Zenit St Petersburg are top of the Russian Premier League thanks largely to the efforts of Brazilian centre forward Hulk who has now found the net eight times in 11 league games. However, rumours persist that the 27 year old isn’t exactly happy in Russia and he still enjoys a tense relationship with fellow striker Aleksandr Kerzhakov – a relationship that won’t have improved when Hulk missed a crucial penalty in the Champions League last week.

Parts of the media have published the following quote and have led to a fresh batch of stories linking the player with a move to White Hart Lane in January.

“I learned a lot with Andre Villa-Boas. It would be fantastic to play under him one day.”

It’s an easy link to make and won’t go away for a while until Hulk makes a move away from Russia. It also forgets the words of AVB back in May 2013,

“He was my player and scored 36 goals in one season but it’s impossible he will make a move here because of the wages that he earns,” Andre  told the Guardian.

“He may have options in the summer but to a club like Tottenham his transfer fee is also impossible.”

Ok, so the sale of Gareth Bale may have changed the financial make up of the club but Hulk to Tottenham still seems an unlikely prospect.
