Ever since the draw for the Europa League had been made, Spurs had been favourites to lift the trophy next May but now that the Champions League teams have dropped down, that situation has finally changed.

Juventus, who suffered a surprise exit after defeat to Galatasaray in the week now head the betting and the Turin club are available to back at a best of 11/2 with Stan James. Meanwhile, Spurs are the new second favourites and on offer at 15/2 with 888Sport.

Would you be tempted to take a punt at that price? There are some good teams in the last 32 including Napoli who beat Arsenal on Wednesday and  who also drop down. Rafa Benitez’ side are at 10/1 with SkyBet while Fiorentina, who have been in the Europa League from the start, have lengthened to 14/1 – also with SkyBet.

One team who may be worth a look as an outside punt are Ajax. The Dutch legends took a while to recover domestically after losing Christian Eriksen and Toby Alderweireld in August but have won four in a row at home and are always dangerous in Europe. Ajax are quoted at a very tempting best of 33/1 with Bet365.

We knew that this market would change considerably after the Champions League places were decided and we are no longer favourites heading into the knockouts. Can we still do it and are we worth a bet at that 15/2 figure?
