In a slow news week you get all the unlikely transfer stories pouring in and top of the pile is the report linking Spurs with a summer bid for Everton’s Belgian international Kevin Mirallas. The piece goes on to claim that Tim Sherwood is a fan of the player’s bustling style and could go in with an offer in the region of £12m.

From what we can gather, Mirallas is something of a fans’ favourite at Goodison Park and has scored some important goals on Merseyside since joining from Olympiacos in 2012. In Greece he averaged more than a goal a game but with Everton pushing him out to the wing, that average has dropped.

The main issues with the piece are the fact that Everton don’t want to sell and Mirallas doesn’t seem keen to leave. Add in the uncertainty over Tim Sherwood’s contract and you can probably file this away.

If there any truth in the story? Well, it has originated from Jamie Sanderson at the Metro so draw your own conclusions.

  1. You can also add to this that £12m is nowhere near what we’d consider selling Mirallas for. Any bid would probably be closer to £20m before we’d even consider it (not that we would).

  2. A definate non starter I’m afraid – a key player for the blues, hopefully he’ll do us both a favour though and see to ko’ing Arsenal out the cup at the weekend.

  3. Good player but Everton wouldn’t sell to Spurs. 2 clubs in direct competition.
Only thing that could swing it is the Belgian connection

  4. Would be better getting kasper schmiecal on a free transfer and patrick evra, then hopefuly get benteke or remy. All for the price we would end up paying for molasses!!!
