Early links connecting Alvaro Negredo with a move to Tottenham can be traced on this site back to 2011. At that stage, many readers felt the Spurs were simply not an attractive club for the striker who was then at Seville so why would he come to White Hart Lane 3 years later?

That’s one of the stories doing the rounds after the player was rumoured to be targeting a move back to his homeland. The Spaniard scored 23 goals in all competitions for Manchester City last season but it’s felt that a lack of Premiership starts was partly to blame for his omission from the Spanish World Cup squad.

The report seems to have originated in the Daily Star, so make of that what you want, and it suggests that Spurs are ready with a £20m bid for the 28 year old.

Three years ago, it was generally felt that White Hart Lane wasn’t a particularly attractive destination for Alvaro Negredo. In 2014, would he be more tempted to come or would a Spanish Champions League club or even another stint of bench warming in Manchester be preferable?

  1. Bench warming? The guy made 49 appearances for City last season 32 of which were in the League. He was also injured mid season. Negredo will want to stay at City
