Reports today claim that Franco Baldini has headed back to his old club Roma in an attempt to sign their 23 year old striker Mattia Destro. The Italian international has five full caps to his name and in 41 league games for his current club, he has found the net 19 times.
There is no talk of the fee involved but the stories go on to claim that it may take the sale of Roberto Soldado to finance the deal.
Meanwhile, Baldini’s return to his homeland may also see Brazilian midfielder Sandro leave the club. It’s thought that part of the director of football’s trip will involve a visit to Napoli in order to tie up a £12m move.
