Reports today claim that Franco Baldini has headed back to his old club Roma in an attempt to sign their 23 year old striker Mattia Destro. The Italian international has five full caps to his name and in 41 league games for his current club, he has found the net 19 times.
There is no talk of the fee involved but the stories go on to claim that it may take the sale of Roberto Soldado to finance the deal.

Last season Sandro looked off the pace. Maybe injuries have taken there toll and it’s a good time to sell? Maybe he just needed a rest and will be back to his best this season.

I would love to get Destro, but I don’t see why we’d need to lose Soldado to do it. He had a terrible first year, but I’d like to see how he fits in with the new manager and he’s also had a year to adjust and this preseason. If he goes, it should be in January at the earliest.
