Swansea’s new signing Bafetimbi Gomis has looked strong in pre season and is so far proving that the Premiership side were right to take a punt on him as a free signing. But his early performances, which included a goal against Reading in a 3-1 win at the weekend could pave the way for the sale of Wilfried Bony.

Gomis and Bony together could provide the most potent partnership in the league next season but most of the press are adamant that the Swans are happy to sell the latter with Spurs and Liverpool the two clubs named as potential destinations.

In Finland at the weekend, all three of Tottenham’s strikers scored in a 6-1 victory over Celtic. As we reported yesterday, that Celtic side was a bit of a joke bit with Roberto Soldado, Harry Kane and Emmanuel Adebayor all finding the net, does it tend to suggest that Mauricio Pochettino will be sticking with the existing three?

Erik Lamela also added to his tally of pre-season strikes and a positive campaign from him would take the pressure off the front men. So do Spurs need a Wilfried Bony or are they fine just as they are?

    • Er….we have too many ‘non-Brit’ players already which is why the ‘rumours’ that Kaboul, Sandro, Chiriches & Chadli (depending on which article you read/believe) are all available/being touted for sale.
Each prem squad is only allowed 17/25 ‘foreigners’ & you’re seemingly proposing selling 5 of those to buy in 7!?
That’s simply not going to work, is it!

  3. Well, yes, on the one hand, it certainly couldn’t hurt, and Bony seems a pretty solid striker. Good fit for Poch’s system? Probably. Moreover, he could push our other strikers, as he would be seemingly almost immediately in contention for a starting spot. That said, I wouldn’t want him at the expense of replacing any of our strikers…but if that were necessary, I guess I would (with some hesitation) lean toward selling Adebayor. I’m still hopeful for Soldado to come good with Spurs and for Kane to come of age with Spurs. Adebayor just might be too hot and cold in the long run. But again, I wouldn’t sell unless a proves striker like Bony came in. And finally, I also agree that we have greater needs at present (worried now about Musaccio deal falling through!).

  4. You have no chance of getting Bony it’s just the papers making it up. Why would Swansea want to let him go after losing Michu. As the saying goes ” Never believe a word that’s written in the newspapers”. They just make it up as they go along
