It took 36 minutes for Real Madrid to take the lead against Tottenham Hotspur in the opening game of the Audi Cup.

Jese’s lovely cross was headed home by James Rodriguez. The midfielder escaped his marker with ease, while the Spurs centre backs were nowhere to be seen. Here’s the goal…

Tottenham had started reasonably positively, controlling possession well at times, but Madrid always looked the more likely to open the scoring.

Prior to the goal, Dele Alli provided Spurs’ best moment, brilliantly nutmegging former Tottenham playmaker Luka Modric.

Alli was arguably Spurs’ best player in the first half; the young midfielder was brimming with confidence and passed the ball well.

Christian Eriksen tested the opposition goalkeeper, while Erik Lamela blazed a Kyle Walker cut-back over the bar.

Michel Vorm made two good first half saves from Modric and Isco.
