Crystal Palace are the latest Premier League club to have been linked with a move for Ryan Mason.

Hot on the heels of Bournemouth’s reported interest, comes news that Crystal Palace are considering a bid for his services. The Mirror have reported that Palace are interested in Mason, as they look to bolster their squad after a season in which they reached the FA Cup final but struggled in the Premier League.

Just as they did when reporting on Bournemouth’s interest, The Mirror suggest that Palace value Mason at a fee of just £4m. They claim that Daniel Levy rates Mason at nearer £8m, but even that looks slim.

When you consider that Mason has four and a half years left on his contract still to run and the fact that two other fringe England players of the same age – Andros Townsend and Jonjo Shelvey – attracted £12m fees as recently as January, it’s clear that the club will be looking for eight figures.

That’s even more true if there’s going to be more than one Premier League side bidding for him and though criticised this season, Mason is a player who would improve a lot of teams in the top flight.
