Last week it seemed certain that Mario Gotze was moving back to Borussia Dortmund, but it seems as if negotiations are not going as smoothly as once thought.

The Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has suggested that Gotze’s transfer from Bayern Munich is far from close.

“We have not reached an agreement with anyone, including the player,” Watze said.

“It has to be financially feasible for us.”

Spurs were linked with a move for Gotze and reports claim that the club are still actively looking for another attacking midfielder, despite the imminent signing of the Marseille winger Georges Kevin-N’Koudou.

Targets such as Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Franco Vazquez have joined other clubs, while Georginio Wijnaldum is considered too expensive. With Dortmund struggling to get a deal for Gotze done, could Tottenham still have an outside chance of landing the German international?

  1. Ante Coric looks so much better suited to what we need. Gotze has never looked best in the centre and has failed to impress Guardiola, who like Poch is another disciple of bielsas high workrate. Thus dont know why he’d suit us.

  5. Eddie – Halilovic has great dribbling ability but is a very selfish player! .. I’d love Götze, he’s a hero.. But just don’t see it.
