Those famous ‘Sky sources’ have claimed that the club have lined up a trio of midfielders for a potential transfer this summer.

With Georges-Kevin N’Koudou expected to sign from Marseille in the next few days, Sky report that attention will then be turned to signing a central midfielder.

Interestingly they claim that the club are open as to whether that midfielder is a ‘number 8′ – ready to challenge Moussa Dembele – or a ’10’ to play behind a striker.

The names mentioned are the Mainz midfielder Yunus Malli, Dinamo Zagreb’s Ante Coric, or Anderlecht’s Youri Tielemans.

All would fit into the mould of players normally targeted by the club. The 24-year old attacking midfielder Malli is available at a bargain price of €10m, while Coric and Tielemans are both 19 and play for clubs outside of Europe’s elite leagues.

It is Tielemans who looks the more likely player to be able to play deeper, while either Malli or Coric would be expected to join the ranks of attacking midfielders.

  1. Coric looks special, Tielmans reminds me a bit of Frank Lampard, but could certainly add some physicality to to box to box role if dembele was out that Alli or Mason might lack.

Coric could prove to be an incredible signing though. His creativity and rapid decision making are that of a player much older than he is. Sure, he has to get used to premier league but so did Dele Alli.

For me, its Coric and Mata in (would love a superstar number 10 but am a realist) and Eriksen, Lamela and Vertonghen on new contracts.

  2. You are living in a fantasy world if you think Levy will sign 3 or 4 more midfielders. We will get one more if we are lucky.

The more we sign the more we restrict the path of our talented youth players into the first team.

We need to balance the players we bring in with what we have coming through because we are not manchester city , we don’t have the money to blow on signings when have the new stadium in progress.
